Our organization is expanding and as a result, we are constantly recruiting new team members. In our team members, we look for the following professional qualifications and potentials:
- At least two years of verifiable professional experience working with children, youths and individuals with special abilities and unique needs (autism, mental health, acquired brain injury, addiction etc.). More emphasis will be placed on professional experience working with individuals with autism and / or behavioural challenges.
- A minimum of two years post-secondary education in related disciplines, including but not limited to DSW, RPN, SSW, CSW etc.
- A professional license is an asset.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Valid Vulnerable Police Check
- Physical and behavioural intervention training (CPI, SMG etc.) may be required from successful candidates.
Job Descriptions and Responsibilities
Our team members come from all different backgrounds with a broad experiences. However, successful applicants should be able to perform most of the following duties and many more:
- Assist clients in improving their social skills, cognitive thought process and behaviours.
- Be able to analyze clients’ behavioural, emotional and social patterns and diagnose for appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with clinical teams, families, and stakeholders to obtain feedback on implemented treatment plans and progress.
- Assist clients in preparing and serving meals and utilizing adaptive equipment when necessary.
- Must always promote and protect welfare, dignity and clients' rights.
- Responsible for collecting necessary data on all program goals.
- When required, team members should be able to chaperone clients to medical appointments or social outings.
- Design and implement life skills, cognitive retraining and behavioural management programs for clients.
- Engage individuals in daily constructive and skill-building activities.
- Must be able to identify and implement all clients’ needs as indicated in their BSP and/or ISP.
- Develop and carry out social, recreational, therapeutic and training programs through individual and group activities and routines.
